Can a peep sight be installed on a compound bow string without a bow press? How do you find the right spot?
I have a PSE X Force compound bow, and I want to install a peep sight on the string. I have two questions: 1. Can I install the peep without a bow press? 2. If yes, how do I know the right spot to put it? I can't imagine the peep being an easy item to move up and down the string, so I want to get it right the first time.

Thanks, in advance, for your help.
No, you can take a butter knife and use it to separate the individual strands on your string. Just slip the aperture into the string and make sure that you have an equal number of strands on each side of it. You will be able to slide it up or down to make it fit your needs before you affix it permanently. You won't really need a vise.
How can I install peep sight on compound bow without a bow press?
I need to install a peep sight on my bow, but I do not have a bow press. How can I separate the string strands to install the peep? I read to use a string separator but I do not have one, and I plan on hunting tomorrow morning. Any suggestions?? Thanks!
just by a press...and besides...once you place in the peep sight, your gonna have to re-range the bow anyways...other then that...id take it to a hunting store (bass pro) and ask them to help you do it...plus they have an indoor archery shooting range...
Can I switch from a traditional tube peep sight to just a little circle without buying a new string?
Right now I have a peep sight where the tube attatches from the string to the cable. Can I switch to just a little circle like the G5 Outdoors Meta peep sight without buying a new string or cable for my bow?
Yes you can. There are several on the market that do not use a tube. I like the fletcher tru-peep. But it has to be installed in the string and adjusted so that it lines up correctly when the bow is pulled back. You will more then likely have to get an archery shop to install it for you if you are not set up to work on your own bows. Here is a link that lets you see the many types that are on the market.

Is a peep sight supposed to be able to move?
hi, im very new to archery, and i noticed i could slide my peep sight up and down a little bit.. are u supposed to be able to do this? thanks!
Not really, but it is not a deal breaker. The best thing to do when you know the peep is in the right position and your shooting is accurate with it is to use a white marker and mark the position of the peep on the string. That way you can always make a visual check of your peep and see if it has slid out of position. And if it has, just line it up to match the white marker line on your peep and string.
Where can i get a rear peep sight?
I have a old model 67or 68 Winchester rifle and part of the rear peep sight is gone, do u know where i can get one? Also do u know how much it is? Also im looking for a new bolt for it cuz the old one is worn out and doesnt fit properly.
Numrich won't be able to help you, they're sold out of bolt assemblies and sights for a 67 and 68.

If you just need an aperture you can probably find one on eBay, but here's one listed on GunBroker - gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.as… You'd have to look elsewhere for the entire peep sight assembly. The assembly is a 96A.

As far as the bolt, you can try to buy this one for $125 - gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.as… I can't see the entire bolt being worn out, it may just fit a tad bit sloppy because it was manufactured years ago before there were precision CNC machines. I have an old Pioneer single shot .22 that the bolt is somewhat sloppy, but it fits well. My dad has a 67A and I'm looking at it now. The bolt has a bit of side to side play when the bolt is fully opened. It fits snug when fully closed.

You may also try Jack First Gun, you can call them at 605-343-9544 and tell them what you need and hopefully they can get it or make it for you. Good luck

EDIT:
Here's a Lyman Aperture sight for 67, 68, 72, 74, 75 on eBay - cgi.ebay.com/Lyman-Rear-Peep-Sigh…
Question about peep sight on compound bow?
I have the redhead Kronik bow and the peep sight is very small. When I look through it with the bow drawn, I can just barley see all three of my pins. I can't see the ring that goes around the bow sights. I have been told that you should be able to see this. Does this mean my peep sight is too small?
It does depend a little on what kind of shooting you will do with it. Small peep sights are more for competition shooting than hunting... It really helps to be able to view the deers whole body well enough to get the pin on your targeted area. A larger peep is best for hunting. I don't think you need to see the whole site ring though it though.
Peep sight or Hind Sight for a Martin Lynx?
Can anyone give me some input on using the hind sight peep eliminator, the real question is it worth the money?
hi there, last june i made a hind sight for my martin saber, it is not as pretty as the boughten one but works the same way, it is mounted under a 1 pin adjustable front sight, i shoot 3 inch groups at 40 yards, and 2 inch groups at 25 yards, a couple things i have found:1 after it is set up you will find that bow tourqe is eliminated as you now are putting the front sight dot in the v to shoot ,any wrist flex is instantly noticed. 2 beacuse of the short span between back and front sights only a small lift or lowering of your ancher point is needed for longer or shorter distances, that was the hardest thing for me to get used to as i have used the same ancher point for 35 years, but with some practice i am now confident in my shots , it is better than the peep and easyer to see in low light, good luck and good shooting.

How can I keep my Peep sight from slipping up and down the string on my bow?
The peep has been served by a professional and it moves up the string after several shots while practicing. Is there any way to keep this from happening outside visiting a pro shop?
Get on the net- type in how to serve in a peep sight-you'll see several different methods- just take your pick.
How do I properly install peep sight on bowstring to line up with pin sights already installed ?
I need a little guidance on where I add the sight & how on my string for hunting deer.
install your peep sight where ever it is comfortable for you at full draw to look through. then after you have that installed you may have to adjust your pins a little bit. depending on what peep you bought you may need someone with a bow press to install it but i have used (very very carefully) a butter knive too seperate the bow string enough to install a peepsight but main thing just put it where it feels comfortable
