Im pregnant and enrolled in a college intro photography class? Today was only the 2nd class day, and we developed our first negatives. It was super easy. Does it get more complicated than that? Because I just found out im pregnant and Im worried about chemical exposure. If it stays as simple as it currently is, id be able to get my friend to help me out....like, she could put my photos in the chemical tubs for me and stuff. Will it stay this simple throughout the course? Or will it become a pain for her to develop my photos as the semester goes on? |
None of the chemicals in normal development of black and white photos are dangerous. Color can be more problematic. Kodachrome was the worst, but that no longer exists.
The things you want to avoid are image toning, particularly selenium toners. I don't think you will have to deal with that in an intro class, and even if you did, it is fine unless you decide to drink it.
You should be using tongs or nitrile gloves to process your prints either way. |

If I were to do photography for profit, say for example I photograph a pregnant woman,? but don't use a digital camera, (SLR) what is the best way about getting the picture developed then having the client choose what pictures she likes and then order quality prints for them? What is the best way about going about all of this, or photographers out there, how do you go about it? |
| In the old days ;-) I developed the film, chose the proof prints in 4x6 and presented them numbered in an album for ordering. I never watermarked them on the front, but did label the back with copyright info and photo number. You could present the proofs on a CD, but if you are hoping for print sales better make the images really low resolution. |
Where can I take pictures of my pregnant friend? (Maternity Photography)? I'm a photographer, not professional but I take some pretty great photos. I have a friend who's due in June and in a few weeks I'll be taking pictures of her. I have some pose ideas, but some of them won't be clothed as a lot of maternity photos are taken this way. I'm willing do do outdoor shots, but I need ideas for a location. Also, What could I use for back drops? |
Don't know where in the world you are located but over the next few weeks, in the UK, it will not be warm enough to do outside shots.
I'd recommend for that type of shot, going B&W & having a plain black or white b/g. That way the b/g doesn't compete for attention with the subject.
Keep the outdoor shots for clothed work. |
Need information on darkroom chemicals for photography and pottery/clay exposure while pregnant? okay i know it sounds like a complete random question, but I am pregnant, and next semester I can either take intro to clay or 35mm photography, where we will be working with black room chemicals and whatnot. Is it safer for me to do a pottery/ introductory clay class, or photography since I am expecting? I would like to know your experience in this matter, so I don't just listen to someone making up bs to get a simple 2 points. thanks so much!! |
If it was me, I would take the photography course. Sure there would be limited exposure to some chemicals, but most of the time you will be using tongs to handle the images. (you could also wear medical gloves and a cheap respirator mask for peace of mind).
On the other hand, working with clay you could be handling lead contaminated clay and lead based glazes with your bare hands. |
What would be a good camera to invest in for professional photography? I thinking of starting a photography side business once I have my baby. What would be a good camera to invest in? I've always enjoyed photography, but never thought of it as a career until I recently got pregnant and thought it would be a nice stay at home job. Thanks for the help! |

How often should you get an ultrasound while pregnant? I'm almost 31 weeks pregnant & havent had an ultrasound to tell me how the baby is doing. The only ultrasound i have had was at about 22 weeks when i booked it myself at Prebirth Photography (which you are supposed to have your 20 week done with your doctor before you can get it done, i just said i did so i could get it done, i really wanted to see my baby!) Which is just for enjoyment, they don't tell you how the baby is doing and stuff. Shouldnt i have had a couple with my doctor already?? |
I'm gonna be honest...it does seem a little odd that you haven't had any ordered by your physician during your pregnancy thus far. the normal is usually at least 2 or 3. i've had three done already and i'm only 17 weeks. i have one more scheduled for two weeks from now for my level 2 ultrasound. so it does seem wierd to me that they haven't offered any at all.
it could be that your doctor just doesn't do them. some docs have their own opinion regarding prenatal testing. i would ask your doc the next time you see him/her. there is no harm in asking. the worst that could happen is that he/she tells you that they don't do them and why.
if you're not comfortable with this approach the your prenatal care then i would look for a new doctor! i know you feel it's late in your pregnancy but you have to trust the person that is going to deliever your baby. if i wasn't comfortable i would find a new doctor.
i wish you the best of luck with everything! i'm glad you got to see your baby though! that's the best, isn't it? |
Do you think it's wrong to want to walk down the aisle pregnant? I've been looking through a lot of photography because two of my sisters are pregnant and i'm very into photography.. Well I've also been thinking about getting married.. And I came across photos of women who are pregnant on their wedding day, and I think it's so beautiful, and I want that for myself.. So I was wondering what everyones thoughts were on this. |
Im 28 weeks pregnant and about to walk down the aisle (well stairs to the beach in our case) on the 20th of february 2 weeks away!!!!
My dress looks stunning.
Obviously i don't see a problem with it, we didnt plan it this way, but it happend, and everything happens for a reason :D |
Need to know great locations in San Diego for photography shots? I'm new to the area of San Diego and have decided to take up my love for photography more serious. I have a friend who has seen my pictures and would like me to take shots of her while being pregnant. I would LOVE to get some good shots but have NO idea where to go. I'd like for anyone to help me out on some suggestions on where I can go and some places where we may have more privacy. But anything will help.
Thanks |
| Balboa Park, the cliffs of La Jolla, the beaches of Coronado (rated within the top ten of the US) would be a few scenic. At Petco Park, in front of a red trolley, in the midst of the gaslamp district would be some good shots as well. |
I need to find a location on a beach for a photography in San Diego California? My friend is 8 months pregnant and I'd like to shoot her on a beach. I'm located in the San Diego and I'm new to the area so I don't know ANY good locations. Can anyone please help me to find good locations to shoot? I'm looking for the beach locations, fields of flowers or a nice scenery or just good places to shoot guys. Thanks! |
Check here for some beach photos. I suggest La Jolla Cove for nice sandstone cliffs and blue water scenes. But if you want grassy area along side the beach, then try La Jolla Shores. Windandsea has some of the best waves (not to mention the Surf Shack), not very busy at this beach too, so maybe that's a good thing.
