| I think some women are naturally submissive, and there are others (I for instance am one) who have a yearning to be submissive, but who needs this brought out in them. I cannot be submissive unless my husband is dominant, which brings out a submissive response in me. And there are others who are not submissive at all. I don't think it has anything to do with being a housewife, many housewives are not at all submissive, and many careeer women are very submissive in their personal lives. The Surrendered Wife is a very specific method for improving a marriage. It is generally aimed at wives who have been dominant and controlling and who are sick of having to do everything. It is intended to relieve pressure on overworked wives and make their lives more relaxed and fulfilling. it is not particularly aimed at housewives, but seems to be created more with career women in mind. the idea is that a woman who is involved in a high powered career wants to relax and let the man take over at home. Much emphasis is laid on 'self care' and doing things for your own pleasure. I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to be a 50s style housewife, but I do not regard this as necessarily having anything to do with being submissive. | For our marriage, chosing for me to stay at home with the babies was not the same as being submissive. We discussed how much we both disliked daycare and decided together that it would be best financially for me to stay at home with the guys. What ended up happening was that we started our own business when the first baby was 3 months old and I actually worked from home, but I was home.
